Enforcement & By-Law Services – Discharging Firearms

Municipal Bylaw Officers do not respond to reports of gunfire

The by-law states:

  • Firearms may not be discharged on public or residential, commercial or industrial property at any time.
  • Only the landowner of agricultural land that is being used for agricultural purposes, or the president of a development company that owns undeveloped land, can discharge a firearm on their property, providing they are not within 300 m of residential, commercial or industrial property
  • A firearm may be discharged by a person participating in an organized hunt, firearm competition, turkey shoot or other use of firearms where Council and the owner of the land have given their consent prior to the event.

If you are reporting firearms being discharged or report imminent danger please call Peel Regional Police at 911.
