Report Dead or Unhealthy Trees

The Forestry Department will only remove city-owned trees; you are not authorized to remove or damage any city tree. As a property owner, you can remove privately owned trees on your property and may require a permit according to the Tree Preservation By-Law.

Reports of tree removal or damage without a permit are investigated by the Parks & Forestry and By-Law Enforcement Departments.

Reports of Dead or Unhealthy City Trees are first inspected by the Forestry Division to determine the required work.

Possible Reporting Scenarios:

  • Sick/Dead/Unhealthy City Tree

Expected Service Levels:

  • For Sick/Dead/Unhealthy Tree: Inspections are conducted approximately 90 days from initial request
  • Tree maintenance may take up to 12 months after inspection to complete

What happens after I report my concern or submit my request?

  • A Tree Inspection will be conducted, and the Inspector will leave a ‘Tree Door Hanger’ on your door to let you know the inspection is complete
  • The necessary work will be scheduled for completion

If you require further assistance, please contact 311 within Brampton or 905-874-2000.
