Enforcement & By-Law Services - Report Misuse of Accessible Permit
An Accessible Parking Permit is a card that can be displayed on the dashboard or turned-down sun visor of any vehicle in which a person with a disability is traveling. The permit is issued to a disabled person, not a specific vehicle. The permit entitles the vehicle, which the person named on the permit is traveling in, to park in designated disabled parking, standing and stopping areas.
Holders of a valid Accessible Parking Permit are exempt from:
- Parking between 2 AM and 6 AM (but not for more than 3 hours)
- Parking in an Authorized Residents Parking Zone (ARPZ)
- Park facing wrong way
- Parking where parking is prohibited (e.g. sign stating NO PARKING)
- Depositing money into a parking meter
- Obtructing the access aisle
- Park in excess of three (3) hours
The Accessible Parking Permit must be valid and used within the guidelines outlined by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO). Any misuse of the permit must be reported directly to the MTO. Please note that you must have the accessible parking permit number when contacting the Ministry of Transportation to report misuse.
