Enforcement & By-Law Services - Reporting Inadequate Accessible Spaces and/or Signs

All private properties are required to have a certain number of accessible spaces available in their parking lots.

All accessible spaces have specifications regarding their:

  • Signage
  • Pavement Markings
  • Curb Cuts

If you are looking to report a private property for not having enough accessible spaces or signs in their parking spots, our By-Law and Enforcement Services has an officer who is specifically dedicated to these issues.

If it is found that there is a by-law violation, there are several steps which will be taken:

  • An Order to Comply will be written, which grants the property owner 14 days to comply to the by-law or to contact By-Law Enforcement for an extension
  • Compliance will include proper signage, spaces with access aisles, pavement markings and curb cuts
  • The officer will then re-inspect the property for compliance after those 14 days or will re-inspect at the end of the extension if one was granted
  • If the property owner does comply, the file will be closed. If the property owner does not comply, the file will be referred to Prosecution.

If you require further assistance, please contact 311 within Brampton or 905-874-2000.
