Enforcement & By-Law Services - Garbage Containers/Regional Waste Carts, Private Property/Boulevard

Waste carts (for garbage, recycling and organics) provided by the Region of Peel are not permitted to be stored in the front yard facing a street. They must be stored in the garage, side yard between houses, or back yard. Townhouses without a side yard may be exempt.

They should not be:

  • Improperly stored continuously or between garbage days
  • Stored on or in front of porches, house, garage or verandas

Carts or Garbage stored on the boulevard on Garbage Collection Day, or a concern with the contents of the garbage, falls under the responsibility of the Region of Peel.

  • Contact the Region of Peel to report Garbage being stored on the Boulevard by Calling 311 and pressing 1 to be directed to the Region or 905-791-7800, if outside of the Region limits.
  • Alternatively, contact the Region of Peel by visiting their Waste Management Site
